Tape Land 86 – The Frank Nora Show (12/3/83)

10:00 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

This was a mysterious tape – “Computron Cassette – Low Noise – High Output” – with an “X” written on one side and an “I” on the other. On it, I discovered this previously unknown ten minute recording, “The Frank Nora Show”, from December 3, 1983. We were waiting to watch Michael Jackson’s Thriller on MTV, which had premiered the day before. This is an amazing time capsule from 1983, being heard for the first time here in 2019. Notes: Frank, Laura, Julie, Men Without Hats, Chris, special announcement, another Chris, Michael Jackson, another room, John, MTV, Thriller.

Tape Land 85 – Little Frankie Nora: Shatter Cider (compiled 5/4/92)

15:40 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

I have previously released Shatter Cider – but with the wrong date (1987), no track listing, and in some cases, a different name (Shatter Cider Suite (just the first 5 songs)). For this release, I made a brand new transfer from the original cassette, and present the title and track listing below, exactly as written on the tape label.

I recorded most of my “Little Frankie Nora” music in 1987, which is why I originally thought this tape was from that year. But apparently, I recorded music over the next few years, and collected it in “Shatter Cider” – making it the final Little Frankie Nora release.

Little Frankie Nora: Shatter Cider

compiled 5/4/92

[1] Nerve Amble (90-91) :35

[2] Spirit Pummel (89-90) :36

[3] Galaxy Reel (Bumper) 10:08

  1. Disorientation Lost 2:21 (or Disruption Lost)
  2. Shatter Cider 1:50
  3. So Stir Up a Hysterical 2:11
  4. Mean Laura 1:42
  5. Two-by-Foured Snowman 2:02 (or Tossed Into Woods)

[4] Mishap South (EEF) 1:03

[5] Waiting (BC) :36

[6] Original What (BC) (LFN#1) :46

[7] I Am God (BC) 1:08

EEF = Early Echoes Fusing (a video I made)
BC = Bicentennial Cane (a compilation tape)
