Fuzzy Daupner began in 1998 when Carrie Engdahl (now Carrie Ann Carroll) began collaborating with her sister Denice and Denice’s husband Frank on creating songs. Awhile later, they joined forces with Rob DiCaterino (who later went on to co-host The Paunch Stevenson Show) on drums and formed the band Fuzzy Daupner. The final member, Phil Mould (from England) on bass, joined a little later.

Tape Land 40 – Assignment: Mystery Box! (1994)

5:14 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I will be presenting the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

“Assignment: Mystery Box!” was a feature I created for my 1990s ezine, OsoaWeek. The idea was I would give my friend Peter a mystery box, and he would open it and give his initial reaction to it. Then there were a series of challenges of things to do with the item. The feature was cancelled after 2 appearances.

Assignment: Mystery Box! #1 – Polly Pocket Pretty Pandas
July 19, 1994 – opening the box
July 20, 1994 – experiences with the item

Assignment: Mystery Box! #2 – New Kids on the Block cards
August 8, 1994 – opening the box
August ?, 1994 – experiences with the item

Tape Land 39 – Anything But Monday (March 1986)

45:56 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I will be presenting the audio of a cassette tape from my collection. It’s a way to help motivate me to digitize more of my archives.

Another tape from my college radio show Anything But Monday, with co-host Mad Mike. This one is from from March 1986 – after we had been warned by station management about our on-air hijinks, but before we were kicked off. In fact, in our suspension letter, dated April 11, 1986 – many segments from this broadcast were cited as reasons for our removal.

Notes: Mike has laryngitis, defying the radio lords, manipulating the equipment, military time, contraceptive sponges, Exercise Promo, Fred Small, pornography, National Rehabilitation Week PSA, (audio issue), Drew Security PSA, random word of the day – “laryngitis”, the PSA PSA, Weekly World News, (audio issue fixed), horoscopes, Literacy PSA, Teen Scene: 1001 Groovy Hints & Tips, Laurie Anderson, Peace Corps PSA, The Charleston.
