Reminder

I just wanted to remind all the hosts here on The Overnightscape Underground that playing commercial music on your show is not allowed – not even a short clip of such music. The only music you should play is music you’ve made yourself, or music which has been released under a Creative Commons/public domain license.

Of course there is the Fair Use exception under the law – which is unfortunately very vague and poorly defined. I would prefer that host invoke fair use to play clips of commercial music sparingly – and only if it is really necessary. The best scenario would be if there was no commercial music at all heard on any show.

I hope you all understand, and I look forward to your feedback.

Frank

Over Your Head 10: Pronouncing Mnemomics (Series Complete) (5/10/11)

26:54–  This is the last in this series. If you’ve enjoyed it, you can find lots more like this over on Neal’s “Into Your Head” podcast at IntoYourHead.com. Another dose of harmless nonsense from Ireland,  in which Neal discusses a myriad of issues including the limitations of mind-reading, practicing being Jay Leno’s announcer, a new kind of guitar string, the musical career of boxing champion Barry McGuigan,  avoiding cynicism, the limitations of bilingual conversations, self-serving politeness, PQ Ribber’s band, some advice for Manny the mailman regarding delivering dead fish, how Brian Jude stays awake, how to pronounce the word “Mnemonics”, stepping into the role of continuity announcer and more.

Also included is a bulletin of “Athy Weekly World News”, from the archives of  Into Your Head podcast. Anchor Sháinne Greoige (Neal’s wife Joanne) brings you events of global interest from Over Your Head’s home town.   And a musical interlude entitled “This is Filler”,  generated automatically by Neal’s Madplayer.

Music-like sounds by Dino Sorbello

ADDENDUM: Hi, Deb here. Lee just axed me 2 type in this “IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT” that she just like dictated 2 me or whatever:

“I don’t know why I never saw this before when its the most obvious thing anyone could ever possibly see. HOW MANY TIMES have you been to forever? How many times have you HAVEN’T?

“Deb says we’re in the air in Brooklyn but that’s impossible because she’s in the Dominican and I’m upstate making a souffle. LOL that’s a funny word– souffle.

“There are aspects of every aspect of every thing which are incorruptible. You can tell it by their accent when they smile at you.

“I realize NOW that it is OUR JOB to skin the cat– OUR JOB OURSELVES! It’s NOT up to the TV people– Darlings, we ARE the TV people! Stop acting as though you weren’t animated too– we ALL are, lovers, and THIS is our DEFINING MOMENT! From now on, we are The Beatles and the ONLY love greater than love is the love we love you with so abundantly, lovers!

Luv,
Lee♥”
