28:12 – After helping the Israelites conquer the Midianites, the Yahwelians received tribute which included thirty-two Midianite virgins, without blemish. Why? Strange. Hey, why do you think they call it booty? And it’s not like they hadn’t mated with earth women before, notably in Genesis 6. Also: cultural destruction and ethnic cleansing of the Canaanite peoples, the laying out of the borders of Israel, and a recap of the main events of the Exodus.

28:52 – After Moses is told he will die soon, without ever setting foot in the Promised Land, he deals harshly with the women and children taken prisoner in the Midianite campaign. He would have dealt harshly with the Midianite men, too, but these had already been exterminated by Phineas the Impaler.

Dave in Kentucky attempts to solve what Erle Stanley Gardner might have called The Case of the Blossoming Rod. Also: Did the Levites live high on the hog on the public dime? 30:04 – Complaining about the lack of variety on the menu leads to even less variety for the following month, and a large number of deaths. Miriam doesn’t like the fact that her brother Moses has married an Ethiopian woman, so she engages in some seditious talk with her easily-influenced brother Aaron, whereupon as punishment she is turned even whiter than she already was. Moses sends twelve spies to scout out the Promised Land, where they encounter the Anakim, who are giant descendants of the Nephilim. But how is this possible if the Nephilim were wiped out in the Great Flood? Also: Speculation about the role interstellar objects like Oumuamua and the Borisov Comet might have played in the development of early man.

30:02 – An active volcano in the distance, which appeared as a pillar of smoke in the daytime and a pillar of fire at night, had previously led the Israelites to Mt. Sinai, where more smoke and fire accompanied the landing of a Yahwelian ship carrying a very important personage with a very important legal document. What better way to lead the Israelites through the wilderness than by artificially producing the symbols that they were already accustomed to following? Also: Passover, bugle calls, manna, food cravings, and fire-of-Yahweh overreactions. Bonus question: Are Jabal al-Lawz and Jabal Maqla the Biblical Mt. Horeb and Mt. Sinai?

Why did Samson believe the source of his great strength was his hair? Was it a blessing to see the face of God, or a death sentence? Weren’t all the animal sacrifices literally overkill? Did the voice of God emanate from an old-time radio receiver? Dave in Kentucky doesn’t have all the answers, but at least he poses some interesting questions.
