Gunkcast 42: Space Trek VI: The Farce Awakens / The Final Load Of Laundry / Those Guys Take A Journey Home! (1/29/16)

1:08:55 - “The Farce is strong in the Gunkcast family. Byron has it. Smidge has it. Hell, just about all of the Space Trek cast have it! You have that power too…!” Oh sorry, wrong show (you ask)? But of course this is the right show! And with those immortal words our special guest intro announcer (courtesy of Bad Reboot Productions) kicks off our biggest episode to date! But let’s leave the rest of that bit for your actual listening pleasure & carry on with what we planned here. So… A long time ago at a high school not too far away, Byron & a couple of his friends dreamt up an insane comedy cable access show called Those Guys. This spawned a skit called Space Trek, which has been revived for an exclusive audio mini-series of episodes here on Gunkcast. So please join Byron & his full ensemble cast of talent now for the BIG wrap up. That’s right… the grand finale which has been so hyped & promised for so very long that many thought it simply was never going to happen. Yes, this finale has gotten so BIG that we decided we needed to bring it all to a close in the BIGGEST way we know how… obviously by making it three shows in one! (Wait…what)?

But we’re not going to spoil this for you. You’ll just have to dive right in with us as the fuse(box) is lit to an explosive intro where we flashback through The Farce to the untold tale of how this whole adventure began! Yes, find out just how one final load of laundry set the chain of events in motion which led to our entire epic six part saga! Then join Byron & his co-host Dave Ryan in the studio as they talk all things Trek & set up the final part of our journey which reaches it’s action packed conclusion here. And just when you think this can’t get any better, we also hint that there may be an after-show party which features a few more surprises (as well as another kicking tune from one of our main house bands.. Curmudgeon)!

As we close out our Captain’s Log, we would like to humbly thank everyone who contributed to our shenanigans over the last several years of making this audio journey for Gunkcast (yes, you are all given ceremonious credit in this one)! The little skit we started as part of our cable access show back in high school has now reached the grand conclusion it deserves & we are ready for a final beam up! Cheers….!

Gunkcast 40: Space Trek IV (Revisited): The Trek Stigmata (12/15/15)

46:50 – [Original Earth Transmission Date: June 2013]

Some years ago Byron was on a camping trip with his family & had a mishap while collecting firewood one night. He did not realize until too late that one of the logs he had picked up was covered with poison ivy vines! But perhaps what was most startling was that the resulting outbreak on Byron’s left arm seemed to VERY closely resemble a certain classic sci-fi series logo! Yes…he fancied it to be the “trek stigmata!” This is the true & bizarre tale of the event that influenced this very episode title & which we are revealing now for this special revisited edition (at least for the “show notes” since Byron didn’t remember to tell it during the actual recording)!

So this next Space Trek ‘revisited’ episode for Gunkcast boasts another stellar new intro by an eminent podcast voice of the Onsug community (as well as possibly debuting another “hideous” new super villain)! Then after the main show, be sure to stick around for a special bonus behind the scenes segment which we are dubbing “Talking Trek” (featuring a couple old friends who may just happen to be Space Trek cast members & podcast legends themselves)! Note that we are nearing the end of the countdown to our BIG Trek finale… so dive right in now & enjoy reliving all the lunacy with us! Thanks again for listening! —–Byron

At the end of Space Trek III we left you with a huge cliffhanger which has since caused much wild fan speculation & rumors buzzing around the web. The source of all this could be summed up with one simple question: “Who shot the Doc?” Well actually you should know who shot the Doc if you listened! But the bigger question is what do our heroes do now as the villainous Double-J Raygun (who is attempting to reboot the entire franchise) threatens to put an imminent end to them all on the Island of Impossible Moss? How can they overcome the odds weighing against them here & still recover the (unattended) Starship Arrow which has floated off into space? And just what does something possibly located on a certain starship captain’s gluteus maximus have anything to do with all this? Find out all these answers & much more in this explosive continuation of the series! Fasten your seatbelts… this one’s a real rollercoaster ride!

To note, while you tune in for this next chapter of our crazy sci-fi comedy adventure (from the eccentric minds behind the original Those Guys), also listen for a pretty kickin’ tune from The Gunk U.K. which soundtracks this one…cheers!

Gunkcast 39: Space Trek III (Revisited): The Search For Jerk (11/25/15)

1:08:45 – [Original Earth Transmission Date: October 2012]

The next in our “revisited” series of Space Trek episodes is here (leading up to the forthcoming Part #6)! As we have stated previously, we really strived to make these shows extra special by loading them with all sorts of bonus goodies! So in this 3rd part, we have another stellar new intro (can the rumors be true that it features the BIG MAN himself?)! Also there are hints of a new hidden ending which may further reveal Byron & his Those Guys crew’s original high school shenanigans! Of course remixing & remastering this whole thing is just the icing on the cake. Again, we hope you enjoy reliving all the lunacy with us! -—–Byron

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far… (oops… sorry, wrong show). A long time ago at a high school not too far away, Byron & a couple of his friends dreamt up an insane comedy cable access show called Those Guys. This spawned a skit called Space Trek, which has now been revived for an exclusive audio mini-series of episodes here on Gunkcast. Join Byron & a full ensemble cast of talent for the biggest, most action packed (& quite possibly the most lunatic) installment of our Space Trek series yet!

Follow Dr. Leroy Stones M’Boy, Sock, Checkout, Snotty, & the rest of the crew of the Starship Arrow as they continue on their adventure which has guided them through time & space to rescue the missing Captain Jerk. While The Doc (piloting his TARGIT) attempts to hold off the hideous fleet of warships known as the Minions Of J (dispatched by the sinister Double-J Raygun himself), M’Boy & his crew now find themselves stranded on the Island of Impossible Moss as a result of a tiny slight detail they overlooked when they beamed down. But they soon discover they may not be alone on this strange & mysterious island… and the real rollercoaster ride starts here! Trust us, this 3rd part of the series has it all! And if you are wondering just how the U.K. vs. the U.S. shoe size fits into all of this, you’ll just have to tune in & hear it for yourselves…cheers!

Gunkcast 38: Space Trek II (Revisited): Of Time & Impossible Moss! (11/14/15)

58:15 – [gunkcast_space-trek-Pt2_revisitedOriginal Earth Transmission Date: June 2012]

“Space…the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Arrow. It’s never ending mission to explore strange living rooms. To seek out new viewers & better plots. To boldly go where no series will ever go!” With these immortal words a certain cable access show launched itself into (self proclaimed) underground cult status fame about 30 years ago. So in this next edition of our ‘revisited’ series of episodes for Gunkcast (leading up to our promised grand finale), we have included a new & very special intro segment from a certain podcast luminary! And if that isn’t enough, additional bonus content as well as everything being remixed & remastered are just a few reasons to tune in for this unparalleled audio journey! Hey, what more can you ask for on a podcast? Again, thanks for reliving all the lunacy with us! ——Byron

Here it is at last…the much anticipated 2nd part of the Space Trek saga! Learn what happens as Dr. Stones M’Boy, Sock, Checkout, Snotty, & the rest of the crew of the Starship Arrow embark on a perilous journey to rescue the missing Captain Jerk…who has been abducted and exiled through time & space by the villainous Double-J Raygun. With assistance from the mysterious character known as The Doc (& his TARGIT) they encounter some unexpected twists along the way, finding themselves in quite possibly the most harrowing predicament of all by the end of this most suspenseful & lunatic chapter of the epic sci-fi comedy adventure! Trust us…this one’s a madhouse!

Gunkcast 37: Space Trek I (Revisited): Those Guys vs Double-J Raygun (September 2015)

36:49  [Original Earth Transmission Date: March 2012]

Major podcast fame…is it the final frontier? This is the tale of how a humble show called Gunkcast decided to embark on what they had no idea would become a 3 year mission. To unwittingly cause pandemonium with a series of strange new shows. To seek out more listeners…(yeah, even from the competition). To boldly go where no podcast has ever gone before!

What seems like a very short time ago we started something for our podcast that we never would have guessed would become a multi-part series of episodes spanning over three years! So now in preparation for our big grand finale of Space Trek, we are bringing back all the previously aired episodes in their sequential order (leading up to the forthcoming Part #6). However, we wanted to make this extra special. So in this “revisited” series of episodes we may just be loading them with a few extra bonus goodies. Take for example this 1st part… where we unearthed the original lost “Static” intro! We also are remixing & remastering it all for the ultimate bang for your buck! (wait… did we ever say we were charging you, our dedicated fans, for this quality entertainment?) Anyway, we hope you enjoy reliving all the lunacy with us! -—–Byron

The villainous Double-J Raygun is trying to reboot the franchise. He went to the extreme measures of kidnapping Captain Jerk & destroying First Officer Sock’s home planet of Toucan. Can Dr. Stones M’Boy & the crew of the Starship Arrow save the day? But they may need the help of someone who pilots a vessel know as The TARGIT…..!

So Byron & a couple of his old friends got together here to bring back a skit they originally started when they were in high school (in the 80’s) & doing a cable access show called Those Guys. The skit was a parody of a legendary & much beloved sci-fi TV series. But for this reunion we have brought quite a bit of an update to the original concept (along with many other surprise twists). We also enlisted the talents of a few podcast cronies of ours for this whole event (hints at the links below)! So we are now proud to present Part #1 of an all out epic sci-fi comedy adventure from the warped minds behind this humble podcast!!
